Day One

Posted by Joshua Enfield

Physical
I went for a run, that lasted approximately 30 minutes. I utilized H.I.I.T.(High Intensity Interval Training) When I run now, it is more or less to experience the moment. I tried to run until the pain in my muscles, and the lack of oxygen forced me to forget all my capability to worry about trifles of things I have been thinking about. I did not quite accomplish this. It was raining and fairly cold. I enjoyed the rain, running in it was fun. After the run I stretched, did 20 push ups and took a nice hot shower. After wards my mind was very serene and clear. I still found myself trying to come up with more things to think about, but I managed to stop myself (news, face book, etc.)

Mental
After my exercise I went through a guided meditation at http://www.learningmeditation.com/room.htm

I found the audio files to of very good quality. I achieved a very highly serene calm state after one of the 10 minute exercises. I believe I should do this more or for more duration.

Spiritual
My spiritual inquiries are calm, and at rest at the moment.

Emotional
After exercise and meditation, I put off homework for a little while, but I eventually managed to settle down and focus. Concentration came without too much effort. My mind was clear and concerns of the future did not bother me during this time. I accomplished just under half of my Physics Assignment, but this is very complex material so I am very satisfied. My emotions were well managed.

Today was a success.

Lifestyle

Posted by Joshua Enfield

I created this blog today for two purposes.

The first and most important purpose is to have a daily log of my adherence to a lifestyle I have decided to adopt. The lifestyle is a four tier model. The four tiers are emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental. These are all interconnected to an extent, and if these things are addressed everyday, I believe my life will quickly become a very happy successful one.

1. Physical is the body and hygiene. This is addressed through exercise, and aesthetics as far as physical appearance goes (presentation.)

2. Emotional is the feelings. Emotions\feelings must be carefully controlled, they have a subtle way of manipulating me to not do things that I wish to do. I must focus and have the control to release how I feel, and act as I wish to. On the other hand there is times where I must let my emotions lead me in order to experience what I have worked for.

3. Spiritual is the thoughts and questions that bother me often, and sometimes trip up my intentions in my goals of life, and why I do what I do. I must contemplate these spiritual things and think them through.

4. Mental - This is a big one. Mental strength is the ability to concentrate, and focus. To give myself direction and control. Without focus and concentration my life is a chaotic one that is nearly impossible to control for myself, my life becomes one led by the world around me and my emotions - it becomes one of fate. To develop focus and concentration I must meditate. Exercise also benefits me here.

Following this model, I will create daily posts on my experiences with executing these.
